ASSISTANCE TO STATES FOR CONTROL OF ANIMAL DISEASES ( ASCAD )
Funding Pattern for Mizoram is 90:10 Centre : State
Activities Undertaken in this Scheme :
1.Immunization against economically important diseases of livestock and Poultry:
i)Vaccine - Vaccine against different animal and poultry vaccine are procured every year viz, HS & BQ (Haemorrhagic Septicaemia and Black Quarter) vaccine, Foot & Mouth Disease (FMD) vaccine, Classical Swine Fever (CSF) vaccine, Antirabies Vaccine (ARV), Ranikhet/New Castle Disease (RD) Vaccine, Infectious Bursal Disease (IBD) vaccine, Fowl Pox Vaccine etc.
ii)Vaccination - Procurement of needles, syringe, gloves,sterilizer, cotton, glassware & Disposable, Chemicals, Supportive Medicine, transportation and delivery system with cold chain facilities eg. Refrigerator, Vaccine carrier and Deep Freezer.
2.Strengthening/Modernization of Biological Production/Disease diagnostic laboratories:
Includes One State Disease Diagnostic Laboratory at Aizawl, 4 districts Diagnostic Laboratory at Lunglei, Champhai, Lawngtlai, Kolasib with Procurement of Laboratory equipment in each DDLS.
3.Training Programme/Seminar: i) Training for Vets
ii) Training for Paravets
iii) Workshops/Semina
4.Control of Emergent & Exotic Diseases:
i)Purchase of materials for routine collection of serum/morbid samples for surveillance work and related activities against exotic and emergent diseases including Avian influenza, Bovine Spongiform Encephalopathy(BSE), Porcine Reproductive and Respiratory Syndrome (PRRS) etc. including transportation cost of sera, morbid samples etc.
ii)Compensation for forced culling of PRRS sero-positive animals
iii)Purchase of PRRS diagnostic kits, reagents, chemicals, glass wares etc.
5.Information and Communication Campaign and Community Participation:
i) Organization of Block Level Awareness-cum-Health Camps
ii) Organization of district level awareness-cum-health camps
iii) Expenditure on printing of posters, pamphlets, literatures, publicity through and electronic media
