ANIMAL HUSBANDRY AND VETERINARY DEPARTMENT
GOVERNMENT OF MIZORAM, AIZAWL.
INTRODUCTION:
The regional Boar Semen Station was established in the year 2013 under RKVY (NMPS) located at AH & Vety farm complex Selesih Aizawl and start functioning initially in the year 2014. The Station was officially inaugurated on Dt. 18th August 2015, by Dr. Sanjiv kumar Balyan “ The Honourable union Minister of state for Agriculture Government of India”. The station is mainly used for production of quality liquid Boar semen for artificial insemination and dissemination of quality germ plasm to the pig farmer within the state of Mizoram. It is also served as a training centre for pig A.I. Technicians of AH&vety department Government of Mizoram.
THE MAIN OBJECTIVES OF STATION:
1.To maintain breeding stocks and production of good quality breeding boar as replacement stock for satellite Boar Semen Station in the District.
2.Production and dissemination of superior germ plasm to different places of pig farmers in Mizoram through A.I. technology.
3.To maintain proper pig breeding system through Artificial insemination technology.
4.Conduct of training regarding various pig A.I. technology for A.I technicians of Mizoram including other state of India etc.
5.Control of various transmissible genital diseases through A.I technology.
INFRASTRUCTURE AND EQUIPMENT AVAILABLE:
1.Boar semen processing laboratory equipped with world class semen processing equipment with Air conditioner Room.
2.Boar pen with a capacity of 24nos Boar.
3.Sow pen attached with farrowing pen for production of good quality Boar.
4.Pig A.I Training hall.

NATURE OF WORKS:
1.Management of breeding Boar in proper manner.
2.Routine interval of clinical/laboratory examination of boar.
3.Training of young Boar for semen collection.
4.Routine collection of semen (3-4 times in a week)
5.Semen processing and evaluation.
6.Pakaging and labelling.
7.Despaches of semen doses to Inseminator, inseminating agency.
8.Records keeping.
TRAINING FACILITY:
We can provide short course pig A.I training one week duration with a full courses of pig A.I Technology.
