3.Objectives of the Projects
1) To conduct epidemiological studies of Foot and Mouth Disease for planning the strategy of disease control programmed.
2) Typing of FMD virus from sample received and collected from field outbreak and to identify the virus strains prevalent in different areas of the state.
3) To appraise the authorities of the state AH & Vety Department, Field Veterinary Officers and Livestock owners concerning the disease situation and strategies for control of the disease.
4. Technical Programme :
1)Typing of FMD virus from the field isolates using Sandwich ELISA technique as per recommendation laid down by the PDFMD, IVRI Mukteswar.
2) To differentiate infected animals from FMD vaccinated in susceptible animal population by DIVA Test collecting 100 Nos. of random Sera samples from each 8 Districts of the State.
3) Assessment of sero conversion from 20 cattle from one model village of each District of the State by collecting paired sera samples of pre and post vaccination by LPBE.
4) To conduct awareness campaign/training on FMD.
STATUS OF FMD COLLABORATING CENTER IN MIZORAM
The FMD Network Unit of Mizoram is established and function side by the side with the state Disease Investigation Laboratory with the main office cum laboratory at Directorate of AH & Vety. Mizoram.
